This Sunday, August 10, 2008 we have a few items for your attention…

Annual Providence Bridge Pedal
The Providence Bridge Pedal is this weekend and it may affect your commute to church. According to the website (https://www.providence.org/bridgepedal/) the following bridges will remain open throughout the morning:
St. Johns: Both directions
Fremont: Northbound (lower deck)
Broadway: Both directions
Morrison: Both directions
Hawthorne: Westbound
Marquam: Southbound (lower deck)
Ross Island: Eastbound
Sellwood: Eastbound

The Steel and Burnside bridges will be completely closed to motor vehicle traffic during the event. MAX service will not be affected. All buses will operate, but some will have detours. Detailed bridge closure information is available on the website. We hope that this information will help you with your morning.

 

Summer Forums
Join us for our summer forums, this one is titled “Mission Work in Honduras and Portland Streets,” the presenter is Pastor Frederick Woods. Pastor Woods tells of his mission trip to Honduras as part of Global Missions—“People-to-People Program.”  He will also relate the wonderful mission work of his church, Calvary Christian, to the North Portland streets, including the recently formed Rehab House. This forum is located in the Sanctuary from 10:00 am-10:50 am.

 

50th Annual Church Picnic
Once again this year, FCC’s annual all-church picnic will be at Custer Park (SW 21st & Capitol Hill Rd.) at 12:30 pm, across the street from the home of Paul and Patty Clendenin.  Please bring a potluck item to share and lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Paper products, entrée, and drinks provided by FCC. Plenty of fun activities including swimming at Clendenin’s, softball game, children’s games & playground, bocce ball, card games, and more!

 

Also, please note that street/meter parking is free on Sundays. During the week you can park free at AAA building (600 SW Market St.) after business hours (5:00 pm). Parking meters around the church are in effect 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Parking garages charge 24 hours every day and the closest locations are: 1301 SW 5th Ave., 1211 SW 5th Ave., 1400 SW 4th Ave., 1000 SW Broadway, 1100 SW 6th Ave., and 515 SW Salmon St.
