What: The Heritage Theatre: Yiimimangaliso – The Mysteries
When: Saturday, April 16th 6:30 pm
(There is a Lock-In for the Youth afterwards)
Why: To celebrate and thank our congregation and to meet youth and others from the neighborhood
Where: FCC Multi-Purpose Room
Our Youth Director, Georgette Dashiell, says the film is truly amazing if you like music, dance, spectacle, language etc. This movie is based on the Medieval Chester Mystery Cycle plays from the 1500s, but adapted to reflect not only the Christian cycle of Creation to Last Judgment, but also the history of South Africa in modern times. Those of you who love African drumming and dance will love this production. Come and have a great time enjoying the evening together.
One another, but also important note, things are coming together nicely for the summer mission trip. We have three adult chaperones…Georgette and Eric and Rachel Florip. Eric and Rachel have been quite active in our church and we are lucky to have them. They will be a great fit for our Youth and the mission trip. Remember the Youth are going to Monterey, California to be a part of Blue Theology program and then to Oakland, California to participate in Urban Plunge mission work. This is the first Disciples based mission trip the youth have participated in for years. They will also be staying at and connecting with other Disciples churches during the trip. Stay tuned for more information about this amazing mission trip.
The youth and their leaders are doing some great things! If you would like to volunteer please let Georgette know…the Youth could always use more people to help out.
Seder Meal – April 20 @ 6:00 pm

On the week that Jesus was crucified he ate the Passover meal with his Disciples and during Holy Week we as a congregation have an opportunity to eat this Seder Meal with members of our congregation and community. Everyone is invited but the Worship Committee would like to know if you plan to attend. The cost is $5.00. Please contact the church office at 503-228-9211 to purchase your ticket. Patty Clendenin is in charge of the Kitchen and Barbara Bloom and Garry Cohen will be the presenters.
The Seder Meal is celebrated on the first night of Passover and that is Wednesday, April 20. The meal will begin at 6:00 pm in the Multipurpose Room.
